Of the total amount, ₹384.40 crore has been sanctioned for Karnataka and ₹1,566.40 crore for Maharashtra to provide immediate relief assistance to the people affected by extremely heavy rainfall and floods during the south-west monsoon this year in both the states, an official statement said.
The statement said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of the Home Minister, the Central Government is fully committed to providing all possible assistance to the states affected by floods, landslides and cloudbursts.
This year, the Center has already released ₹13,603.20 crore to 27 states under SDRF and ₹2,189.28 crore to 15 states under National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).
Additionally, ₹4,571.30 crore has been released to 21 states from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) and ₹372.09 crore has been released to nine states from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF), the statement said.
The Central Government has provided all logistics support including deployment of requisite teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Army and Air Force and supported all flood, landslides and cloudburst affected States.
During this year’s monsoon, a maximum of 199 NDRF teams were deployed across 30 states and union territories for rescue and relief operations.
