The IDF launched airstrikes after “terrorist operatives” whose affiliation was unclear Claimed to have attacked Israeli forces in RafahThe israel time Report.

An Israeli military officer told Independent That Hamas had carried out “numerous attacks” against Israeli troops beyond the yellow line where they had retreated under the ceasefire in “bold violations of the ceasefire”.

“The attacks included RPG shots at a military force and sniper fire against a military force,” he said. “Both incidents occurred in Israeli-controlled territory east of the Yellow Line. This is a bold violation of the ceasefire.”

There was no immediate comment from Hamas.

As the reports emerged, Israel’s hard-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “order the IDF to resume a full-scale war in the Gaza Strip with maximum force.”

“The false illusion that Hamas will change its ways, or even adhere to the agreement it signed, is proving dangerous to our security,” he wrote on Twitter.

In a separate incident on Friday, ‘henchmen’ were mentioned came out of a tunnel in rafa According to the IDF, shots were fired at the area and Israeli forces. There were no reported injuries.

The development comes at a uncertain time for the ceasefire, with US Vice President JD Vance and special envoy Steve Witkoff expected to arrive in Israel on Monday to discuss Israel’s claims that Hamas is violating the ceasefire agreement.

Hamas on Sunday rejected a US State Department statement that cited “credible reports” indicating that the Palestinian militant group would violate a ceasefire agreement with Israel. Hamas said such allegations are false.

“The Hamas movement rejects the allegations outlined in the statement issued by the US State Department and categorically denies the claims directed against it in relation to ‘imminent attacks’ or ‘violations of the ceasefire agreement,'” it said.

“These false accusations completely match the misleading Israeli propaganda and provide cover for the occupation’s continued organized crimes and aggression against our people.”

Hamas accused Israel of creating, arming and funding criminal gangs, which it said carried out “killings, kidnappings, theft of aid trucks and robberies against Palestinian civilians.”

The State Department assessed in a brief statement that Hamas was planning an “imminent” attack on civilians in Gaza, adding: “Should Hamas proceed with this attack, measures will be taken to protect the people of Gaza and maintain the integrity of the ceasefire.”

Donald Trump has threatened to disarm Hamas if it refuses to do so voluntarily, saying he did not care if Hamas executed members of a “very bad gang” in Gaza earlier this week.

The ceasefire has become even more tense due to the slow return of hostages to Israel by Hamas and Israel’s decision to keep the Rafah crossing closed to humanitarian aid.

Israel has threatened to keep the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt closed “until further notice”.

Netanyahu’s office said the reopening of Rafah would depend on how Hamas fulfills its ceasefire role of returning the remains of all 28 dead hostages.

Hamas has handed over the remains of 11 identified hostages. Israel has returned the bodies of 135 Palestinians to Gaza.

The handover of the remains is one of the key points in the ceasefire process aimed at ending the two-year war – along with aid deliveries to Gaza and the future of the devastated territory.

Prime Minister benjamin netanyahu He said the body has been identified as Ronan Engel. The second body is still undergoing identification at Israel’s National Institute of Forensic Medicine.

Engel, 54, was killed on October 7 during an attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz on the Gaza border. In November 2023, his wife Karina and two of his three children were abducted and released under a ceasefire.
