New Delhi, Oct 18 (IANS) The Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday celebrated its annual Diwali ‘Mangal Milan’ with journalists and party leaders at the newly constructed state office on Deendayal Upadhyay Marg.

In the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the event was presided over by Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva and media head Praveen Shankar Kapoor moderated the event.

Union minister Harsh Malhotra, BJP co-in-charge Alka Gurjar and national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi joined the leadership in wishing Diwali to media persons and residents of Delhi.

Senior party leaders including MPs Manoj Tiwari, Yogendra Chandolia, Bansuri Swaraj, former Union ministers Harsh Vardhan and Vijay Goel along with several MLAs, councilors, NDMC members and office-bearers were also present.

Addressing the gathering, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva said that under the current leadership, Delhi is witnessing a Diwali that balances tradition with environmental responsibility.

In his address, he highlighted that after years of legal restrictions, the party successfully advocated for the use of green crackers before the Supreme Court.

He said, “Today, the Chief Minister of Delhi is creating history by lighting more than 1.5 lakh lamps on the path of duty.”

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta thanked the people of Delhi and the media for their support and said that after 27 years, the BJP government in the capital reflects the people’s mandate.

He urged citizens to celebrate a “green and proud Diwali” and participate in building a happy and eco-conscious Delhi.

Alka Gurjar said this Diwali marks a phase of new enthusiasm under the “triple-engine” government for rapid growth.

National spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi commented that for the first time in decades, Delhi is witnessing a festival rooted in cultural pride and faith under the leadership of a government rooted in Sanatana values.

The event featured traditional dishes from Old Delhi, Litti Chokha from Bihar, Dal Bati from Rajasthan, Karnataka Dosa and the popular Green Park Tea, which was served to the journalists present in a festive atmosphere.
