BJP leaders hail PM Modi’s resolve to eliminate Maoism by 2026, hail zero-tolerance policy

New Delhi, Oct 18 (IANS) BJP leaders on Saturday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to eliminate Maoism from India by March 2026, praising his firm stance on national security and his zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism.

His comments come a day after PM Modi announced that more than 300 Maoists have surrendered within the last 24 hours, a significant breakthrough in the government’s ongoing crackdown on domestic terrorist groups.

The Prime Minister said the mass surrender reflected growing disillusionment within the Maoists and reaffirmed his government’s resolve to completely eliminate the movement by 2026.

Highlighting the government’s success, PM Modi, speaking at the NDTV World Summit, said the number of Naxal-affected districts across the country has fallen dramatically – from 125 a decade ago to just 11 today. The Prime Minister said, “The day is not far when India will be completely free from Naxalism and Maoist violence, this is also Modi’s guarantee.”

Reacting to this, BJP MP Ghulam Ali Khatana told IANS, “This massive fall shows that for us, country is above party. The Indian camp is adamant on putting its party before the nation. This major achievement has been achieved because of the micro-level security decisions taken as part of the strategy of PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to eliminate Maoism. This is because of the vision of the Prime Minister and the zero tolerance policy of the Home Minister.”

BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh also said the Modi government’s target of eliminating Maoism before March 2026 is both firm and achievable.

Chugh told IANS, “Now the time has come to root out Maoism. The Prime Minister’s resolve is to completely eliminate Maoism before March 2026. The way Maoism was patronized during the Congress tenure and urban Naxalites were established in cities, in the same way now the Modi government will completely eliminate it through the path of development.”

Taking a sharp dig at the Congress, Chugh said, “For Maoist terrorists, they shed tears, and for the murderers who carried out the massacre on 26/11, their ideology opens courts overnight. Leaders like Rahul Gandhi still do the ‘naagin dance’ through foreign toolkits. The Congress, which rolls out the red carpet for terrorists, continues to give party tickets and make star campaigners to those who He once said, ‘India will break into pieces’. It’s unfortunate.”
