A coach of Amritsar-Saharsa Garib Rath Express caught fire near Sirhind railway station in Fatehgarh Sahib on Saturday morning, officials said.
He said that there was no casualty in the incident.
The fire broke out around 7.30 in the morning when the train (number 12204) was coming from Amritsar.
A police officer said smoke was seen in an AC coach of the train and passengers were evacuated safely.
The official said that fire tenders were immediately called to extinguish the fire.
Officials said that as soon as the fire was detected, railway officials shifted the passengers of the affected coach to other coaches.
He told that the train will leave for its destination soon.
