Eimantas Stanionis has delivered the final verdict on the potential fight between Jaron Ennis and fellow super welterweight contender Virgil Ortiz.
Ennis announces his arrival at 154 pounds dominantly After his search and destroy mission at Uisma Lima last weekend, he proved that he is suitable for the new weight and ready for the biggest names.
Ortiz is considered the best in the super welterweight division despite only being the WBC interim champion – but Stanionis doesn’t accept that.
“Virgil is a good fighter,” Stanionis told The Ring. “He’s strong, smart, tough. He’s very good, but I think Jaron will beat him. There’s no doubt about that.”
Stanionis will have a good idea of how good Ennis is after the Philadelphia native took the WBA welterweight title.
The Lithuanian fought bravely, but was simply outboxed and stopped in the sixth round, giving ‘Boots’ the credit he deserved.

“Jaron is a great warrior,” Stanionis said. “He has everything. Speed, power, but the number one thing he does very well is his accuracy. Trust me, he is very accurate and very fast.”
Ennis’ victory over Stanionis was his last fight in the welterweight division before he decided to move up to 154 pounds this year after completing his goal of becoming a unified champion by capturing the IBF and WBA belts.
Despite no world title currently at stake in one of the most talent-laden divisions in the sport, Ennis vs. Ortiz has become the most sought-after fight in the division.

The fight is on the horizon – Ortiz is yet to face a tough fight against Erickson Lubin on November 8, and the fight could be on the way.
