After years in the boxing wilderness, Allen has re-emerged into the spotlight over the past 12 months as he avenged his controversial loss to Johnny Fisher by defeating his opponent in a rematch.
Allen’s comeback story got another boost when he was easily defeated by Arslanbek Makhmudov in Sheffield last weekend, ending suggestions he could face former world title holder Deontay Wilder.
With Allen’s path forward now unclear, Warren told IFL TV that Adele, who boasts an 81 percent knockout ratio thanks to 13 stoppages in 16 fights, would make a strong opponent for the “White Rhino”.
The Queensberry promoter shared: “I’m not being disrespectful – they’ve done a good job promoting it – but there are levels and levels, and I think people got swept up in everything.
“Dave [Allen] Always a brave performer, a nice guy, but he got well beaten – there are levels they are all at. It is sad and shameful that he was beaten. Maybe a good fight for him at this point would probably be someone like David Adele.
“David [Adeleye] He needs to get back into things after his last fight.”
It’s a fight Queensberry and Adele have been willing to wage for some time. Back in 2021 Adele commented: “Dave Allen and Nathan Gorman are fights that I think I can take. I’m confident in myself, I believe in myself and I can beat them.
“Dave will be a good competition for me. He’s been in there with some great fighters. It’ll be a good fight and I’ll take it.”
Adele attempted to enter the world title race by moving on to fight Filip Hrgovic in August, with the Croatian ranked in the top 10 by all four sanctioning bodies. Despite a spirited performance in which Hrgovic got the cut, Adele lost the 10-rounder via wide decision – two judges gave her only one round.

After Allen vacated the coveted British title, Adele may not represent the ideal opponent, although it could be a good litmus test for Allen’s Lonsdale Belt credentials.
