Formula 1 announced a five-year agreement on Friday AppleWhich will be the US broadcast partner of the global motorsports series starting next season.

“I feel like I’m on the podium, it’s amazing,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of services. “Our vision for Apple TV, we wanted to provide customers with the best stories from the most creative storytellers. We launched in 2019, we started with nine original series, and now we have a deep library of over 300 shows and movies and thousands of hours of content.
“And everyone in America will now get Formula 1 on Apple TV,” he added. “They will get everything that Formula 1 has to offer.”
Apple plans to broadcast F1 on Apple TV, as well as expand the series to Apple News, Apple Maps, Apple Music, Apple Sports, and Apple Fitness+. Apple TV will also host all practice, qualifying, sprint sessions and races.
Select races and all practice sessions throughout the season will also be available to watch for free on the Apple TV app. F1 TV Premium, F1’s own flagship content offering, will remain available in the US through an Apple TV subscription and will be free to Apple customers.
Apple TV is available on more than 1 billion screens in more than 100 countries and territories, including the iPhone and other products including PlayStation and Xbox gaming consoles.
Cue said Apple’s reach will only help F1 grow in the United States, which currently hosts races in Miami, Las Vegas and this weekend in Austin, Texas.
“We have millions of Apple TV viewers in the US, we know many of them are Formula 1 fans, hopefully, and we know many of them aren’t yet,” he said. “We’re going to be able to bring (new fans) to the table right away, that’s a very low-hanging fruit.”
