of britain boundaries When MPs asked for any name, the chief was unable to answer. Brexit have helped “Control our borders”.
martin hewittThe new Border Patrol commander said he had “no immediate” answer to that question.
The pro-Brexit campaign promised that Britain could “take back control” of its borders. But the number of migrants crossing the Channel in small boats has not decreased since then.
As The number of crossings reached a record high last month, US President Donald Trump also advised Sir Keir Starmer to “withdraw the military”.

Mr Hewitt, who has been in post for a year, told MPs in the Commons Home Affairs Committee The number of people arriving on dangerous small boats was “disappointing” and “really daunting”.
More than 36,000 people have made the dangerous journey so far this year, nearly a third more than at the same point in 2024.
Asked if there were any such examples Brexit Britain has help “under our control” boundariesHelped you do your job, or helped us reduce the issue of undocumented migrants”, both she and National Crime Agency director general Rob Jones, who was also giving evidence to the committee, were stunned.
After a long pause, Mr Hewitt told MPs: “Certainly not immediately.”
He told the committee, “I will consider it”, and said he would write to them with any answers.
Paul Kohler, the Lib Dem MP who asked the question, told Mr Hewitt he was “not surprised” by his answer.
However, Mr Hewitt told MPs he saw potential in the government’s proposed digital ID card, which it wants to use to tackle illegal working and stop migrants coming to the UK.
He said: “There’s no doubt that having the ability to make it harder for someone to work illegally is absolutely important. But the concept of a digital ID that makes it even more difficult for someone to try and be in a working position is, I think, potentially an advantage.
“I think it’s going to be really important, and I know there’s going to be a consultation process that will work on how this could work and add value to the work we’re doing.”
A Liberal Democrat spokesperson said: “As the Border Security Commander himself has made clear, the list of Brexit supporting achievements is exactly zero items long. We doubt this will be the last time Farage and Reform are proven wrong. Now is the time for the public to know about it.”
Mr Hewitt was appointed as Britain’s first border security commander last September when the new Labor government came to power.
