In addition to using AI while writing books, he said he thought it could be helpful for the government to cut costs.
Speaking about HS2, he said: “Most of the cost of it is going to lawyers and environmental impact assessments and planning applications and all sorts of things that are not actually related to digging tunnels or laying railway lines.
“A lot of this can be done with AI. You don’t need this stuff anymore and you can speed up the legal process massively.”
He added: “The UK is one of the world leaders in AI, we should use that leadership to cut the cost of government and if you cut the cost of government, you can put that money back into people’s pockets and stimulate growth. That’s a way out of the spiral of destruction in terms of tax.”
Mr Johnson said he has “a lot to deal with” but is “very happy” since leaving Parliament, adding that he has been “writing a lot and drawing and painting”.
He said he hoped the Tories would return, but compared the prospect of their return to being “reincarnated as an olive” or “being blinded by a champagne cork”.
He said: “Statistically, anything can happen. But the water can flow upstream – it’s not likely. I want my party to come back and organize. This is the best solution.”
