A new government scheme to boost support for veterans was launched today, as almost two million people could access them Digital Veterans Card.
Previously only available as a physical card, the Veteran Card allows access to certain services and discounts to those who have served in the military.

It offers a range of benefits, from housing and mental health support to reduced admission to museums and money off at some retailers.
The digital card will display their name, photo, latest service and date of birth with security features to protect their personal information.

How to download veteran card
To obtain a Digital Veteran Card, the applicant must first have a physical card. Application for this can be made on gov.uk.
After this, cardholders can also apply for the digital version on gov.uk. To do this they will need to create a One Login app account, which will require an email address.
If their current photograph is not clear enough, they will need to submit a passport style photograph to use on the app.
After this the card will be available on the One Login app.
The card is now the first digital document to be stored in the app, which the government has been developing for several years. It is also planning to launch a digital driving license.
Technology Secretary Liz Kendall said: “Our veterans have given everything by serving for their country and it is right that we give them all the support they need.
“As we deliver national renewal, we are modernizing our public services so they work with people’s lives and keep pace with the digital world we live in.
“The Digital Veterans Card will help remove barriers, reduce red tape and make it easier for people to access essential public services.”
