Kolkata, Oct 16 (IANS) Amid the crucial West Bengal Assembly elections next year, Trinamool Congress on Thursday launched its digital outreach program aimed at involving the common people in the initiative.
This was announced by Trinamool Congress national general secretary and Lok Sabha member Abhishek Banerjee through a video message posted on his social media account X.
The digital outreach program has been named “Ami Banglar Digital Jodha” (I am the digital warrior of Bengal), and a dedicated website named ‘ABdigitlajoddha.com’ has been launched to engage the people of the state in the digital campaign.
People wishing to be a part of the digital campaign will have to register their names through the website, where the concerned citizen will have to mention his name, mobile number, district of residence and the assembly constituency where he is a voter.
Explaining the rationale behind launching this digital outreach program involving the common people, Abhishek Banerjee said that such an initiative was necessary to counter the “anti-Bengal” digital campaign being run by ‘anti-Bengal’ forces using the digital space.
“It is up to us to stand up for the rights, dignity and truth of Bengal, fight with clarity and conviction. That is why I am launching ‘Ami Banglar Digital Jodha’, a people-powered, youth-led digital movement to protect the identity of West Bengal, preserve its truth and take the message of its pride and progress to every corner of India and the world,” he said in his post, where he Announced the launch of the campaign.
He described the initiative as a call to action for the youth of West Bengal who want to counter the ongoing “anti-Bengal” campaign in the digital sphere.
Abhishek Banerjee said, “To every young person who refuses to let Bengal be stigmatized, this is your call. Join as a Digital Jodha. Strengthen the future of Bengal. Register using the link below and tell the world what Bengal can achieve when its people move forward united.”
Party insiders said the new initiative has been launched considering that both the BJP and CPI-M have been running massive digital campaigns on social media highlighting various issues in West Bengal, which go against the state government and the Trinamool Congress.
A senior Trinamool Congress leader said, “Many such campaigns are false and condemnable, and hence there was a need to counter such digital campaigns by opposition forces in the digital sphere itself.”
He also said that the initiative aims to bring together Trinamool Congress supporting digital creators on a common platform to spread the party’s message among people using the digital space.
