Some Dalits in Congress have enslaved themselves to protect their families: Karnataka BJP

Bengaluru, Oct 15 (IANS) Taking aim at Karnataka Rural Development and IT Minister Priyank Kharge over his proposal to ban Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activities, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalawadi Narayanaswami on Wednesday alleged that some Dalits in the Congress have enslaved themselves to protect their families.

Speaking to the media at the BJP office in Bengaluru, Narayanaswami further said, “In the Congress, some Dalits have enslaved themselves to protect their families, while the larger Dalit community has been deliberately kept poor. Some Congress families want to monopolize power, and to secure their position, they ruin the future of Dalits in other parties.”

“Priyank Kharge is trying to distract people by remembering his failures, talking about potholes and discussing the plight of rain-affected farmers. He is making different statements just for publicity,” the BJP leader alleged.

“Is the RSS anti-Dalit? Did they take away all the Dalits and throw them into the Arabian Sea?”. He asked sarcastically. Narayanswami recalled Ambedkar’s words that “The Congress Party is a burning house for Dalits; there is no future for you here. Find your future in other parties.”

Attacking Priyank Kharge again, he asked, “Is there no one more capable than you? You became a minister only because of your father’s blessings. Otherwise, what would you have become? Leaders like Narendraswamy, SN Narayanaswamy, Anekal Shivanna and Prasad Abbaiah have won many elections, yet they were sidelined while you buried your political career and became a minister.”

Narayanaswamy said, “You (Priyank Kharge) have been a minister three times only because of Mallikarjun Kharge’s blessings. As long as your father has influence, you will enjoy power, because people are afraid of him.” He accused Priyank Kharge of sacrificing senior Dalit leaders like the families of Basavalingappa and KH Ranganath for his rise.

“Even today, Dalits are building their future in BJP and JD(S). But Congress campaigns by saying that BJP is like the sanctum sanctorum of a temple, where no Dalit can grow. Is it so? Then how did Honorable Draupadi Murmu, Honorable Thawar Chand Gehlot and even I, Chaluvadi Narayanswami emerge? What are you trying to tell people?” he asked.

Narayanaswamy alleged, “They accuse the RSS of throwing stones at the poor, marching them and corrupting their minds. But in reality, the poisoned minds are yours, not the RSS’s.”

He also hit out at Minister Priyank Kharge, asking, “Is there any indication that you are a Dalit? You are not a Dalit. You crushed, divided and destroyed the Dalits and then presented yourself as the victim.”

The BJP leader said that people are openly questioning why the property acquired in the name of Priyank Kharge as a Dalit is not being used for Dalit welfare. He said, “If this had happened then all the Dalits of Karnataka could have seen an equal and better life.”
