I’m just reporting the very sad news that Mitt Romney’s sister-in-law, Mitt’s brother’s estranged wife, has died after reportedly “falling” from the 5th level of a parking garage.
Horrible.

Carrie Elizabeth Romney, sister-in-law of former U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney, was found dead near a shopping mall in Santa Clarita on Friday, authorities said.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Carey, 64, was discovered around 9 p.m. in the 24000 block of Town Center Drive, adjacent to the Valencia Town Center shopping mall.
The investigation into the cause of his death is ongoing. Authorities said she may have fallen or jumped from the five-story parking structure, although the L.A. County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet confirmed the manner of death. His case is currently listed as “postponed” pending further testing, including toxicology.
“Our family is devastated by the death of Carrie, who brought warmth and love to all of our lives,” the Romney family said in a statement to People on Tuesday. “We ask for privacy during this difficult time.”
Carey was married to George Scott Romney, Mitt Romney’s older brother and a corporate lawyer. George, as he goes by Scott, was previously married to Ronna Romney. He is the father of Ronna McDaniel, former chair of the Republican National Committee.

While the divorce was brutal and started just 4 months ago Post Police do not suspect any foul play, the report says:
Mitt Romney’s brother filed for divorce just four months after his estranged wife fell to her death in a California parking garage — and tried to make sure the courts awarded him nothing in the split, court documents reveal.
George Scott Romney, 81, filed the suit against Carrie Elizabeth Romney, 64, in June, citing “irreconcilable differences,” in papers obtained by The Post.
Romney – an experienced litigator who had previously run for public office – sought to “eliminate the court’s ability to award support to anyone” in a divorce, court documents show, adding that he wanted to ensure that courts would not interfere and award any assets to his wife.
Other split documents – filed by Romney’s attorney – said the two sides had agreed to “arbitrate property and support.”
However, Carey retaliated with her own filing requesting that Romney provide her with alimony, and pay the legal costs of the divorce.
She also requested that her name be restored to her former last name, Dimas.
While the case was still ongoing, Carey’s body was found Friday night under a parking garage in Valencia, 35 miles north of downtown Los Angeles.
While investigators are still investigating whether she jumped or accidentally fell, the L.A. County Medical Examiner ruled her cause of death “postponed” as of Tuesday evening.
There is no suspicion of foul play, police said.
