Apple has launched an updated version of its Vision Pro headset as well as a new ipad And MacBook Pro.
All three devices use the new M5 chip, which Apple says is specifically focused on improving performance when performing artificial intelligence tasks.
This is the first time that Apple’s Vision Pro headset has received an update. The augmented reality headset was announced for summer 2023 and was initially released in the US early last year.
The new update moves the headset from being powered by the M2 chip to the new M5. This will improve performance in apps, but also allow for better graphics, including real-world rendering that can be viewed using the built-in cameras and displays.
Along with the new chip, Apple said it will also start offering a new band with the headset. That said, the “dual knit” band provides a more comfortable fit.
The same M5 chip will also come to the 14-inch MacBook Pro and the new iPad Pro. Apple specifically pointed to that chip’s new AI performance: The company said it offers 3.5 times more artificial intelligence performance than the M4.
