The official Tamil Nadu Fact Check handle clarified that no such bill has been proposed or received by the Assembly.
“No proposal for such a bill has been received,” the assembly secretary said in a statement.
The clarification comes after several posts circulated online alleging that the state government led by Chief Minister MK Stalin is preparing to introduce a bill to ban the use of Hindi “in all forms”.
Authorities have urged citizens not to share or forward unverified information, reiterating that spreading misinformation can create unnecessary tension.
The Government of Tamil Nadu and the Department of Information and Public Relations have repeatedly warned against the spread of fake news on social media, especially in relation to sensitive linguistic or cultural issues.
