It’s only been 24 hours, but Trump’s story of peace in the Middle East looks to be doomed

Less than 24 hours after Donald Trump announced his “permanent peace”, Palestinians were still being killed in Gaza, with aid trucks stopped going in and controversy erupted about Hamas’s failure to return the bodies of dead Israeli hostages.

All of these serious, and sadly all predictable, factors threaten to derail the entire ceasefire process.

Fourth body returned to Israel, no hostages: IDF

The IDF said Wednesday that a fourth body returned to Israel late Tuesday was not that of a hostage.
