Bengaluru, Oct 14 (IANS) Karnataka RDPR, IT and BT Minister Priyank Kharge on Tuesday said he and his family have been facing threats and abuse for the last two days for questioning the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and demanding a ban on its activities in public places.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s son, Minister Priyank, said on social media
“But I am neither shaken nor surprised. When the RSS did not spare Mahatma Gandhi or Babasaheb Ambedkar, why would they spare me?” He asked question.
He challenged, “If they think threats and personal taunts will silence me, they are wrong. This is just the beginning.”
Priyank further said, “Now is the time to build a society based on the principles of Buddha, Basavanna and Babasaheb, rooted in equality, logic and compassion and free this country from the most dangerous virus.”
Priyank Kharge had written a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding banning RSS activities in public places and school-college campuses, which had created a controversy. Countering this, BJP released the picture of Mallikarjun Kharge at the RSS meeting in Bengaluru and criticized him.
Priyank Kharge, defending his demand to ban RSS from public activities, on Monday said his father had gone to an RSS event only to warn him against creating ruckus.
Also, reacting to the incident of suicide by a Kerala man allegedly due to years of sexual abuse in RSS camps, Priyank Kharge alleged that sexual harassment is also happening within the RSS in the state.
Kharge said, “If one sees the posts of the victim Kerala man on Instagram, one can clearly say that he was sexually harassed at RSS events. This is not only in Kerala, this is happening in our state (Karnataka) as well.”
“Hanuman Gowda has written a book on how sexual harassment is done in RSS. I am telling that RSS is the most secretive organization in the whole world. Why this secrecy and who are they?” Minister Priyank Kharge asked the question.
