The former officer appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday in relation to an allegation related to a category a videoThe most serious type, recovered by authorities in February.
The 43-year-old man, wearing a navy suit and black tie, spoke during the hearing before Judge Nirmal Shant KC only to confirm his name and enter his plea.
The former referee, of Woodhill Road, Collingham, near Newark, Nottinghamshire, was granted conditional bail by Judge Shant and told he must appear in court again on December 11.

The judge told Coote, who was standing with folded hands in front of her in the dock, that she was ordering him to submit a pre-sentence report before sentencing.
She said: “You have pleaded guilty to a serious matter. Whether that means custody or not will be decided when all the information is before the court, which is why I have ordered a pre-sentence report.”
When Coote was arrested at his home several devices were seized and analyzed and category A video was found.
Coote, who had previously pleaded not guilty to the charges, was told his bail conditions were not to have unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18 and not to live at an address with anyone under that age.
A charge of creating an indecent image of a child refers to activities such as downloading, sharing or saving abusive images or videos.
The charge relates to a video recovered by officers from Nottinghamshire Police in February, before Coote was charged on August 12, the force said.
Coote was sacked by the professional game Match Officials Ltd in December after a video emerged of comments he made about former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp in 2020.
In August this year he was given an eight-week suspension by the Football Association over the Klopp footage.
In January, Coote came out as gay in an interview with The Sun and said that a lifelong struggle to hide his sexuality contributed to his boasting about Klopp.
