As Bihar prepares for the upcoming assembly elections, the voices from the ground in Ujiarpur constituency reflect a clear shift in voting sentiment among women, less by local leadership and more by welfare benefits reaching homes directly.

According to a report by News18 Hindi, villagers expressed frustration over the absence of visible development and the growing disconnect between elected representatives and the public.

Residents like Bahadur Das said their MLA “won” the election and “never returned”, adding that development would happen only when leaders would be visible.

Others like Ashok Das said local MLAs are visible only at election time, pointing to a lack of engagement that has left many frustrated.

However, amid the discontent, women voters have emerged as a decisive factor, owing their allegiance to welfare schemes that directly benefit them.

‘Will vote for those who helped us’

Local resident Devati Devi told News18 Hindi that her support is with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

“CM and PM have supported us. My old age pension has been increased.” From ₹400 ₹1,100, and I get 5 kg ration every month. What else do I need?” she said.

,Mai jiske khaungi, uski gaungi (I will speak for those who will help me eat)“He added.

His statement reportedly reflects a broader trend in rural Bihar where welfare delivery is reshaping voter alignment, especially among women beneficiaries.

Recent Women Focused Schemes

This sentiment was further strengthened after the launch of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 26.
