Sehore (Madhya Pradesh), October 11 (IANS) In a heartbreaking turn of events on Karwa Chauth night, a man ended his life in Sehore after his wife allegedly eloped with another man, taking their two children with her.
Deceased Dharmendra Kushwaha, resident of Ganesh Mandir Road Colony, was found hanging in his house late on Thursday night.
The incident has shocked the local community, especially considering the symbolic importance of Karva Chauth, when couples reaffirm their commitment to each other.
According to initial police reports, Dharmendra’s wife had allegedly left the house with their children earlier that day to live with another man.
Troubled by the betrayal and sudden loss of his family, Dharmendra had lodged a complaint with the local police.
However, with no immediate action and no solution in sight, his emotional turmoil deepened.
Family members described Dharmendra as a calm and composed person, who was deeply shocked by the incident.
A relative said, “He was devastated. He kept hoping she would come back, especially for the sake of the children.”
Neighbors also noted that Dharmendra was unusually quiet and alone in the days before the tragedy.
On the night of Karva Chauth, when his house was silent, worried neighbors checked and found his lifeless body.
The police were immediately informed and the body was sent for post-mortem.
Mandi police station in-charge Sunil Mehar confirmed that the incident is being investigated.
Mehar said, “Preliminary findings suggest that Dharmendra’s suicide was due to the sudden demise of his wife and the emotional distress caused by it. We are looking into all aspects of the case.”
The incident has sparked conversations about mental health, emotional support and the need for timely intervention in domestic disputes.
As the community mourns the loss, many are grappling with the irony of a day meant to celebrate love and togetherness ending in such deep sadness.
Officials have urged citizens to seek help in times of emotional distress and assured that further action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
