Ayodhya, October 11 (IANS) Ayodhya, the holy city of Lord Ram, is undergoing an astonishing transformation under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. As the ninth edition of the grand Deepotsav festival approaches, Ayodhya is emerging not only as an iconic pilgrimage site but also as a vibrant blend of heritage, modern infrastructure and world-class tourism facilities.

At the heart of this transformation is the spectacular beautification of Ram Ki Paidi and the rejuvenation of the Saryu Ghats, projects that aim to enhance both the spiritual atmosphere and the city’s appeal to visitors from around the world.

The government has started a new audience gallery at Ram Ki Paidi, which is capable of seating 18,000 to 20,000 devotees simultaneously. Constructed at a cost of Rs 2,324.55 lakh during the financial year 2023-24, the development includes 350 meters of newly constructed stairs, modern lighting, boundary walls and advanced amenities.

A newly-inaugurated selfie point featuring magnificent stone statues of Lord Rama, Goddess Sita and Lakshmana has fast become a major attraction for pilgrims and tourists, offering a perfect blend of devotion and photography.

Under a new project approved with an allocation of Rs 2,367.61 lakh for the financial year 2024-25, Ram Ki Paidi is going to look even grander. The project includes the construction of eight small amphitheaters to provide comfortable seating for visitors, along with six intricately designed stone chhatris, eight grand lamps and seven meter high stone pillars that will enhance the grandeur of the ghat.

Equipped with modern lighting and aesthetic landscaping, the venue will beautifully blend tradition with modernity, creating an unforgettable experience for devotees and tourists from across the world.

Saryu River, the lifeline of Ayodhya, is also getting a major makeover. The state government has allocated Rs 2,346.11 lakh for the renovation and beautification of a 2.5 km stretch of ghats along the river.

The project includes 32 stone chhatris, 11 giant pillars, four puja platforms, two cow puja areas, 15 directional signs, 60 interpretation walls and a VIP pavilion.

Modern lighting and increased cleanliness will elevate the spiritual atmosphere, making Saryu Aarti an even more captivating and majestic sight for the devotees.

UPPCL project manager Manoj Sharma said that under the leadership of CM Adityanath, the development initiatives in Ayodhya are not just construction projects but a symbol of cultural renaissance. He said that the beautification of Ram Ki Paidi and Saryu Ghats has not only enhanced the spiritual atmosphere of the city but has also given a new impetus to tourism.

“Our aim is to complete all the projects ahead of schedule and with the highest standards of quality so that devotees and tourists visiting Ayodhya can truly experience its grandeur and divinity,” he said.

District Magistrate Nikhil Tikaram said that all the construction work is being done through UPPCL. He said that these projects have taken Ayodhya to new global heights. These development initiatives have strengthened Ayodhya’s international prominence while giving a significant boost to the local economy and tourism sector.
