New Delhi, Oct 11 (IANS) An important meeting of the BJP core group will be held on Saturday at the residence of BJP national president JP Nadda, as the party reaches the final stage of its preparations for the Bihar assembly elections.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 11 am and will be attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, senior Bihar BJP leaders and key members of the party’s core group.
This high-level discussion comes soon after the formal announcement of seat-sharing by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which is expected to be made public in Patna on Saturday.
According to sources, the primary agenda of today’s meeting is to finalize the list of BJP candidates for the seats allotted under the NDA system.
BJP’s Bihar Election Committee has already submitted the panel of probable candidates to the central leadership. Party insiders indicate that the first list of candidates may be released by October 13. Notably, this list may reflect a coordinated NDA slate rather than a BJP-specific one.
Ahead of the announcement, NDA allies are speaking in a cordial tone. Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief and Union minister Chirag Paswan, who had earlier demanded 40 seats, indicated that an agreement was close. “When my Prime Minister is there I have nothing to worry about,” he said, indicating his confidence in the BJP’s leadership. The LJP (RV), which did not contest the 2020 elections as part of the NDA, is now being readmitted to the alliance.
Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) president and Union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, whose party won four of the seven seats it contested in 2020, is reportedly demanding 15 seats this time. Although this demand may not be met completely, but sources say that after the intervention of top BJP leaders, both Paswan and Manjhi may accept the final formula.
Bihar Assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, the results of which will be declared on November 14, 2025.
