Bhubaneswar, Oct 10 (IANS) Odisha Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Minister Nityanand Gond on Friday said senior citizens have an important role in realizing the dream of a developed India and making India a Vishwaguru (global leader).
While participating in the state level Senior Citizens Day 2025 program organized by the SSEPD department here, Gond also said that the state government is taking all necessary measures to address the problems of senior citizens in the state.
SSPED Minister said, “Senior citizens have an important role in realizing the dream of a developed India and making India a Vishwaguru (global leader). The government is fully aware of the problems of senior citizens and is taking necessary steps to solve them. By taking inspiration, blessings and experience from our elders in various walks of life, we can definitely achieve these national goals.”
He also urged everyone to remember and respect the contributions of their elders every day. Gond said that senior citizens are an invaluable source of knowledge and experience.
“His knowledge and guidance are extremely helpful in building and developing a healthy society,” the minister said. Bhubaneswar (Ekamra) MLA Babu Singh, who participated in the programme, said that it is the collective responsibility of every section of the society to ensure that senior citizens are given due importance without considering them a burden and provide them social and economic security.
He said, “We should always remember that elderly people are not a burden. By moving forward with their experience, ideals and blessings, we can live a life of happiness and peace.”
On this occasion, senior citizens were made aware and aware about financial literacy, digital literacy and cyber security. Apart from senior officials of SSPED department, a large number of senior citizens, intellectuals and representatives of voluntary organizations also participated in this program.
