Police Tell Keona Hampton, 22, shot and killed Cecila Simpson, 41, in the parking lot outside a PetSmart just after 1 a.m. Tuesday after the women got into a fight while leaving nearby Five Bowls.
According to an arrest affidavit, the fatal encounter occurred after Simpson became angry at Hampton for holding the door “not to say thank you” as they both left Five Below. Received by WFAA.
The argument continued at a nearby PetSmart, where Simpson told workers that Hampton was following him. After leaving the store, the women continued fighting in the shopping center parking lot.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Simpson had been shot multiple times. He was taken to Methodist Central Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Hampton, who fled the scene before police arrived, was arrested several hours later after police impounded his vehicle. According to the affidavit, she was wearing the same clothes previously seen in surveillance footage taken at the store.
She then admitted to police that earlier that day she had had an altercation with Simpson and an employee, leaving and re-entering the store twice before the confrontation escalated.
