Jan Suraj releases first list of 51 candidates for Bihar elections

Patna, Oct 9 (IANS) Ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, Prashant Kishor-led Jan Suraj Party on Thursday announced its first list of 51 candidates, marking the beginning of its election campaign as a third front in the state.

In the press conference in Patna, the party’s national president Uday Singh said that now the names of the candidates will be released daily.

He said that out of 51 candidates, seven are from Scheduled Caste (SC), 17 from Other Backward Class (OBC) and nine from minority community.

The remaining 18 candidates are from general and economically backward class (EBC) communities.

Singh also announced that Prashant Kishor will launch the party’s election campaign from Raghopur on October 11, but clarified that the Jan Suraj president is not in the list of 51 candidates released on Thursday.

Releasing the list, RCP Singh said, “We are going to create history in Bihar politics.”

The list includes several notable names, including Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur’s granddaughter Jagriti Thakur, who will contest from Morwa Assembly seat (Samastipur).

Lata Singh, daughter of former Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Union Minister RCP Singh, has been made the candidate from Asthawan (Nalanda).

Bhojpuri actor Ritesh Pandey has been fielded from Kargahar (Rohtas).

Famous educationist KC Sinha will contest from Kumhrar (Patna).

Other candidates will be contesting from Dig Narayan Prasad Valmikinagar, Sunil Kumar Luria, Awadhesh Ram Harsidi, Lal Babu Prasad Dhaka, Uha Kiran Sursand, Vijay Kumar Sah. Mohammad Parvez Alam from Runnisaidpur, Ram Pravesh Kumar Yadav from Benipatti, Ram Pravesh Kumar Yadav from Nirmali, Ragib Bablu from Sikti, Abu Affam Farrukh from Kochadham, Afroz Alam from Amour, Kunal Nishad Alias ​​Singh from Pranpur, Subodh Kumar Suman from Alam Nagar, Kishore Kumar Munna from Saharsa will contest the elections. Surendra Yadav and others from Simri Bakhtiyarpur.

Jan Suraj Party, which has decided to contest the elections alone, is projecting itself as a third alternative to the ruling NDA and the opposition grand alliance in Bihar.
