PM Modi inaugurated the short -term employment program (STEP) in Maharashtra

Mumbai, October 8 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the Chief Minister’s short-term employment program (STEP), which aims to provide industry-intensive and employment-oriented training to the youth in Maharashtra.

The State Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which will implement the program, hope to provide employment skill training to 75,000 trainees in the current year, and from next year about 1 lakh trainees will be provided employment skill training.

According to the Minister of Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, the inauguration program is being held at 600 places across the state, inviting artisans, local artists and traditional business experts as the chief guests. This will respect his contribution and promote respect for traditional skills in the community.

“Under this program, a total of 2,506 units will be launched in 419 government industrial training institutes (ITIs) and 141 government technical schools in the state. Through this initiative, skill education is being decentralized, and courses have been selected as per local demand and public interest. The institution management committees of each district will run these courses at the local level. And accountability will increase, “the minister said. Lodha

He further said that the main objective of this initiative is to provide modern skill training to the youth of the state according to the changing demands of industries and to make them self -sufficient. Its objective is to provide self -employment opportunities to youth and women candidates of rural areas through local training.

According to the official release, the admission process for this program is being fully implemented online, and interested candidates should register on the website https://admission.dvet.gov.in.

The training fee has been fixed at Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 per month. About 25 percent seats have been reserved for the trainees in the institute and the remaining seats will be open for external candidates.

Students of ITI as well as 10th, 12th, diploma or degree students will also be eligible for these courses. The program includes modern technology -related courses, which include topics such as additive manufacturing, drone technology, electric vehicles, solar energy, cyber security, internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Green Hydrogen, Mobile Repair Technician and Social Media Influencer.

Minister Lodha said, “Around 364 special batch for women candidates and 408 special batch for emerging areas will be started. According to the needs of the local industry, special training centers will be started in Gadchiroli, Latur, Nagpur and Amravati and a special course will also be implemented keeping in mind the Kumbh Mela to be held in Nashik.
