Kopal (Karnataka), October 8 (IANS) A BJP leader was killed by a gang in Gangwati area of Koppal district in early Wednesdays. The deceased was identified as 31 -year -old Venkatesh Kurubara, BJP Yuva Morch in Gangwati city.
Preliminary police investigation revealed that the individual rivalry was the reason behind the murder. Further investigation was going on.
According to the police, Venkatesh was killed at 2 pm in front of Lilawathi Hospital on Kopal Road. Venkatesh Devi was returning home on a bike after attending a dinner party with friends at the camp. The attackers chased his bike, entered it from behind, and then killed him before running away from that place.
Witnesses of the murder, the victim’s friends told the police that a gang of seven to eight members attacked Venkatesh with weapons and killed him. During the investigation, the police seized the car used by the killers from the HRS Colony in Gangwati city.
Venkatesh’s family members and friends have suspected the participation of a resident named Ravi in the incident. He claimed that the two had been rivals for the last seven to eight years and often clashed claiming their leadership in Gangwati city.
More details regarding the incident have not yet emerged.
Earlier, a 40 -year -old BJP worker had ended his life at an office in Nagwara, Bangalore, where he was working on 3 April. The deceased, Vinay Somaiya allegedly posted a WhatsApp message, before he used to take extreme steps, which the BJP Karnataka had accused on social media, who is accused of highlighting the leaders of congratulations. He has also alleged that Congress leaders harassed them by registering police cases against him.
The BJP strongly opposed the incident. Vijayendra had urged the Siddaramaiah government by the BJP state president and MLA to conduct a fair investigation to those responsible for the death of the BJP worker.
