New Delhi, October 7 (IANS) Half a dozen Indian Police Services (IPS) officers serving in Delhi were transferred out of the city in a shake-up by the Union Home Ministry on Tuesday, which comes ahead of the increased alert in the run-up in Diwali.
The transferred Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territories (AgMut) cadre police officers have been posted in Jammu and Kashmir, and others have been transferred to Arunachal Pradesh.
Six Indian Police Service (IPS) officers have been ruled out of Delhi Police Kumar (transferred to Arunachal Pradesh).
Senior IPS officer Praveen Kumar Tripathi will join Delhi Police with his current posting in Puducherry.
An order issued by the Union Home Ministry on Tuesday said, “With the approval of the competent authority, the posting of the following IPS officers of the AgMut cadre has been ordered to immediately and further orders.”
The ministry said that the transfer order regarding Krishna Kumar and Pankaj Kumar will be effective from April 1, 2026.
The top level changes in Delhi Police are accused in August within the months of the new commissioner of the Delhi Police Satish Golcha.
Soon after assuming responsibility, Golcha met Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and discussed issues related to law and order including security for women,
Golcha caused 41-year-old Rajesh Bhai Khimji Bhai Sakaria from Rajkot in Gujarat within a few days of a bid to attack Delhi CM Gupta-an incident that raised questions about VIP security.
Golcha, an IPS officer of the 1992 batch, is known as a non-habitation and honest officer and is recognized for his integrity and hard work.
The appointment of Golcha for the top post follows a term as Director General (Jail) for the Delhi Government.
With a reputation to have top administrative skills and professionalism, Golcha is known to lead the investigation in major cases including the 1984 indication riots.
He is also famous for investigations that he has led as a special CP (intelligence) and special CP (law and order), Delhi Police, Director General of Police, Arunachal Pradesh and during his tenure in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
