Srinagar, 7 October (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan for the release of Rs 171 crore under the PM-Kisan Saman Nidhari Yojana for the farmers of the Center area.
In an official statement, LG Sinha has expressed deep gratitude to the Prime Minister and Union Agriculture and Welfare Minister of Farmers Shivraj Singh Chauhan for farmers, which is for farmers’ Kisan Samman Nis (PM-Kisan) for advance release of the 21st installment of the farmers.
LG has said that about Rs 171 crore will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of about 8.55 lakh eligible farmers of Jammu and Kashmir under the latest installment of the PM-Kisan Yojana.
“LG said that on time financial assistance will greatly promote the rural economy and will help the farmers to maintain their livelihood amidst the ongoing challenges. I am very grateful for the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Honorable Union Minister of Agriculture Minister and the Minister of Agriculture Minister and Welfare Minister of Farmers and the advance release of the farms for the 21st establishment. Crore will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of about 8.55 lakh eligible farmers of the center area,” he said.
LG Sinha said that this very important assistance will be “will help our farmers accelerate recovery to maintain their livelihood and resume agricultural activities”.
Exposing the flexibility and importance of the agricultural community, LG said that the farmers of Jammu and Kashmir are the backbone of the economy and play an important role in driving development in other sectors.
He said that the Government of India has recently been fully committed to reducing the effects of floods – which has been described as the worst in several decades – and to ensure stability and recovery for the affected population.
LG has confirmed that the administration will continue to work in close coordination with the Center to protect the interests of the farmers and ensure that they get all possible support to resume general agricultural functions rapidly.
It should be remembered that the Union Ministry of Rural Development has already released Rs 4,224 crore under PMGSY-IV for J&K.
Under PMGSY-IV’s batch-I, Rs 4,224 crore was released for 316 road projects in J&K. This package covers 1,781 km of roads, the largest approved for the center area under the scheme.
