The new Nissan Tecton C-SUV will be launched in India in 2026, competing with Creta and Celtose

Nissan Motor India officially named its upcoming C-segment SUV on Tuesday. This SUV will be available for sale in India by mid -2026. It will be a global model based on the CMF-B platform, shared with the new generation of Renault Duster in India.

The name “Tecton” comes from Greek, which means “craftsman” or “architect”. Nissan says it reflects engineering excellence, performance and a premium identity.

“All -new Nissan Tecton has inspired his design from our famous Nissan petrol from Nissan Motor Company Limited Corporate Executive Alphonso Allabaisa … Impressive, stylish and built to install a new benchmark, design and construction quality is clearly the best symbol of Nissan’s SUV DNA.”

Tecton’s design is inspired by Nissan’s major petrol SUV. The company claims that inputs have been collected from design teams in India, Japan and UK before finalizing the look of the SUV. Tecton Nissan’s “One Car, One World” is the second product under the strategy and will be constructed in Chennai for India and global markets.

Saurabh Vats, Managing Director of Nissan Motor in India, said, “All-new Nissan Tecton will be at the center of Nissan’s story and will present a glimpse of the future of our product portfolio in the country … This model will lead Nissan’s development story in India.”

The front is a C-shaped LED day-time running light that wrapped around the LED headlamp, a horizontally located and connects to the width of the vehicle. The light bar is highlighted by twin chrome slats and Nissan logo at the center. A double C-shaped shape on the front fender represents the Himalayas.

The C-shaped theme at the rear is connected to the angular tail-lamp with the LED light bar from the edge to the edge. The side profiles include the flared wheel arch and a straight stance, while the back door handles are placed on the pillars.

Nissan has not yet disclosed the full interior, but is expected to share layouts with new renolt dusters using various materials, chrome accents and trims for more premium looks.

The top variants are expected to have facilities for infotainment touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, rear AC vent, automatic climate control and multiple drive mode. The infotainment system will share hardware with the duster but will use brand-specific software and UI.

Security is expected to include six airbags and driver-help systems, although it is not clear whether ADAS technology will be included from the international duster.

It is expected that the tecton will be powered by a 1.3-liter turbo-petrol engine that will produce 154 hp and 250 Nm, which will be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Nissan has not confirmed whether manuals or AWD variants will be available at the time of launch. By the end of FY 2026, a 7-seat version is planned with a renalt-bus brother and sister.

The SUV will compete in the C-SUV segment, which includes Hyundai Creta, Kia Celtos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Herder, and Nissan’s lineup will be above the magnite.
