New Delhi, 6 October (IANS) demanded the resignation of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, which on Monday, on the brutal lynching of a Dalit youth in Rae Bareli, accused the Congress of the total collapse of law and order in the state with increasing atrocities against Dalits, women and Muslims.

Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters here, Imran Masood, chairman of the Scheduled Castes Department of Congress Rajendra Pal Gautam and a member of Parliament, alleged that criminals have an independent run with full collapse of law and order in UP.

Earlier, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Rae Bareli MP Rahul Gandhi spoke to a family member of Dalit victim Hariom, whose body was found by the police on a railway track in Unchahar on 2 October.

During Monday’s media briefing, Congress leaders recorded a video of lynching of Dalit youth.

Demanding the resignation of the Chief Minister, Gautam asked for Rs 1 crore in compensation for the families of the victims of such incidents. In addition, he said, these cases should be tried in fast-track courts for timely justice.

Gautam said that during the last 10 years, there has been a dangerous increase in atrocities against Dalits in Uttar Pradesh, institutional discrimination has become normal.

Citing the National Crime Records Bureau data, he said that there has been a 75 percent increase in atrocities against Dalits in five BJP ruled states, of which 26.2 percent of the incidents in Uttar Pradesh alone are responsible for incidents.

Masood alleged that the constitution of the country was in danger. He said that the Yogi Adityanath government had completely failed on law and order and corruption issues.

He said that crimes against Dalits, women and Muslims were increasing.

The MP said that the state government is violating the guidelines of the Supreme Court and continuing “bulldozer justice” in the state.

He said that this is not the rule of law which is prevalent in the country, but the rule of BJP’s ideology. He alleged that the BJP is giving protection and protection to those who are spreading hatred and violence.

Referring to the lynching incident, Congress leaders said that Amethi MP KL Sharma and PCC President Ajay Rai met the family and offered support.

He said that the Congress will soon set up a fact-and team to watch such incidents and release a report.
