Jabalpur, 6 October (IANS) A tragic accident, two people have been claimed and 12 others were injured during a religious procession in Tamer Bhata village under the boundary of Gaura Bazar police station in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.
Late on Sunday, the incident occurred when a truck carrying a goddess Kali statue for immersion came in contact with the 11,000 KV high-tin power line, resulting in a large-scale electric shock spread through the vehicle.
The truck was decorated with an iron pole for the Navratri immersion procession. As it went through the region, the sticks inadvertently touched the overhead power line, triggering the deadly electrocution.
38 -year -old Chintu Vishwakarma, and 48 -year -old Akhilesh Patel, who was riding on a vehicle, immediately died.
The injured, all the youth participating in the procession were taken to the Government Victoria Hospital for treatment. Currently, their status is being monitored by medical staff.
District officials, including senior medical personnel, have been directed to ensure proper care for the injured.
State Public Works Department Minister Rajendra Singh expressed deep grief over the incident. He wrote on his X handle, “On receiving the news of an electrocution incident during the Maa Durga immersion procession in Bhata village of Jabalpur, I reached the district hospital to inquire about the health of the injured and directed the doctors to provide proper treatment.
The Victims Include Makhan Chaudhary (35), Harsu Patel (18), Nitin Patel (20), Atul Vishwakarma (18), Prashant Namdev (19), Nomit Patel (24), Mayank Namdev (20), Vivek Yadav (20), Vivek Yadav (20), Vivek Namdev (20), Ramcharan Patel (20), Kapil (25), and two individuals named manish patel, aged 25 and 26 respectively.
All were part of the group with the idol during their immersion rituals. On receiving the news of the incident, local officials and emergency respondents reached the spot. Police officials said, “The dead bodies of the deceased were sent for post -mortem after fanal procedures. A case has been registered, and the police have started investigating the circumstances around the accident.”
