Guwahati, 5 October (IANS) Hagama Mohalri, president of the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), was formally sworn in as the Chief Executive Member (CEM), the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), which marks his return on the Authentic body after five years.
The swearing -in ceremony, amidst the sky and intermittent rains held in the Bodoland Secretariat area of Kokrajhar district, former minister Rihon Demiry was seen taking oath as deputy beans.
BPF’s strong victory in the recently concluded BTC elections – securing 28 out of 40 seats – paved the way for the return of Mohilary.

Several prominent leaders participated in the swearing -in incident, including Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, a member of the State Cabinet and Tipra Motha’s chief Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debur.
With this new tenure, Mohilry confirmed the main position of BPF in the political scenario of Bodoland, promising to focus on peace, development and welfare initiatives for the people of the region. Their restoration is seen as a significant political change after years of UPPL control over BTC.
Soon after assuming office, Mohilry indicated the possibility of a fresh political understanding with the ruling BJP.
According to sources, BPF has already made a formal proposal to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, demanding a possible alliance.
Responding to development, Sarma told reporters that the idea of cooperation between the two parties was “not unpredictable”, given their long association.
“I have received a proposal adopted in his meeting. I believe Hagama will work in coordination with the BJP, and we will also extend our support. My relationship with him will go back in 2001, and although he was five years away from BTC, our personal bonds were strong,” the Chief Minister said that these relations could soon translate into political cooperation.
However, the Mohalri had earlier stated that the BPF BJP-led NDA would not be reunited until the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) remains part of the alliance-a stance that underlines the complex political mobility that is currently revealed in the Bodoland region of Assam.
