Vice President Radhakrishnan to hold the first formal meeting with political leaders on 7 October

Justin, 05/10/202505/10/2025

New Delhi, 4 October (IANS) Vice President CP Radhakrishnan is set to host his first formal conversation with leaders of various political parties on 7 October, marking a significant moment in his early tenure as the President of Rajya Sabha.

The meeting will be held at 4 pm in the Annexe Extension Building of Parliament complex, the sources confirmed. This outreach comes after less than a month when Radhakrishnan received the office, won the Vice President on 9 September.

The initiative indicates its intentions to promote dialogue and cooperation in party lines, especially as the winter session of Parliament.

Major invitations include BJP national president and House leader JP Nadda, Leader of Opposition Malikrajun Khage, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. In addition, it is expected to pay that the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal and L. Murugan indicate full representation of the government in the discussion.

Sources suggest that the meeting will focus on strengthening parliamentary decoration, increasing legislative productivity and creating consensus on major national issues.

Vice President Radhakrishnan, who is known for his sociable style and administrative experience, is likely to emphasize the importance of creative debate and mutual respect in the upper house. This conversation is being seen as a strategic move to set a tone for his chairmanship, especially at a time when there is frequent disruption and rapid exchange in Parliament.

By joining the ruling and opposition leaders in the early days of his tenure, he is eager to establish a collaborative structure for the functioning of the Rajya Sabha.

Political observers note that such meetings, although informal in nature, often pave the way for smooth coordination during legislative sessions. The Vice President’s outreach can also help bridge communication intervals and encourage bipartisan efforts on suppressing national affairs.

The meeting is expected to be closed, but its results can shape the mood and speed of the upcoming session. Everyone’s eyes will be on how the Vice President navigates this first major examination of his parliamentary leadership.
