Bengaluru, 4 October (IANS) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President DK Shivkumar on Saturday appealed to the people that “all should participate in the social and educational survey being conducted by the backward classes commission and provide the necessary information to ensure justice for future generations of all communities”.
After starting a social and educational status survey in the Greater Bengaluru region, Deputy Minister Shivkumar spoke to the media near his residence in Sadashivanagar.
Shivkumar is also the Minister of Development.
“The survey has started in the Greater Bangalore Authority (GBA) area today, and it was also held at my house. I have provided all the necessary information. I urge the public to cooperate patiently and provide their information. All caste communities should participate in the survey,” he said.
When asked about the need to simplify some survey questions, he said, “I still reviewed these questions. They need to be simplified. In urban areas, people have less patience.”
Regarding some personal information being asked in the survey, Shivkumar said, “The court has said that no one can be forced to answer these questions. Surveys can ask these questions, but it is up to individuals to answer. These questions will not create any problem.
When asked about the people refusing to participate in the survey, he said, “It is our duty to provide this information. We will do what we need.”
On questions about server issues about caste census, he said, “Come on, they will correct everything. It is their responsibility. People will also be able to participate online, and you should also provide information there.”
Voter lists can be affected by providing information about BJP’s claims, Shivkumar replied, “What can we say about elders?”
Asked about Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s earlier statement that the Supreme Court will be contacted. If the state continues to face injustice, he said, “These are our taxes, our rights. Currently we are losing Rs 15,000 to 20,000 crore. The central government will have to provide a solution.”
The official statement of the Chief Minister’s Office said that on 3 October, the total target of 1.43 crore (1,43,77,978) houses, the survey of 81.27 lakh (81,27,206) houses has been completed by 2 October.
The statement said that a total of 3.42 crore (3,42,31,444) people have been covered with a progress of 63.03 percent in caste census so far.
