Rasi, October 4 (IANS) Rural Self-Employment Training Institute (SBI-RESTI) of State Bank of India is strengthening young women in Rasi, Jammu and Kashmir through a special women’s sewing training program. The objective of this initiative is to equip local women with professional skills in the sewing sector, making them capable of getting financial freedom and self-employment.
In this program, there are 35 talented young women who are currently participating in this ongoing training, who are completely offered free. Along with training, participants receive free study materials, food and housing, ensuring that financial barriers do not obstruct their learning.
Especially designed for girls who aspire to start their own boutique business or work in installed sewing and fashion installations, include a series of skills in the course. Trainees learn sewing techniques and various styles including A-line kurtis, frock, lehenga cholis and uniform, preparing them extensively for the market.
The primary goal of this initiative is to provide skill-based education to women in Rasi, which helps them to improve their economic condition and lead a dignified life. Empowering these young women, promoting positive changes in the SBI-RSTI community, especially for those who previously had access to such opportunities due to limited resources.
The program also aligns with national initiatives like “Betti Valo, BT Bachao” to promote women empowerment and entrepreneurship as major drivers of social development.
Speaking of the initiative, SBI-RSTI director said, “Our goal is to ensure that every girl in Requi has an opportunity to chase her dreams. This training is more than just one course; it is an important step towards self-reliance and empowerment.”
A trainee shared her experience: “We have a 31-day course where we learn sewing and different styles. I learned about different designs such as A-line kurtis, frocks, lehenga cholis, and uniform. There are some more techniques to learn in the coming days.
Another trainee expressed, “I have learned a lot here, from making frocks to Lehengas. Free training has made me very happy, and I believe it will help me start my own business. I am thankful that the government is focusing on women empowerment.”
