Saved by police and villagers, the injured Maoist left behind after the IED explosion in Bijapur

Justin, 04/10/202504/10/2025

Raipur, October 4 (IANS) On Saturday, an IED blast in Bandpara One under the Maded Police Station in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh was seriously injured by a Maoist.

According to police officials, a group of Maoists were trying to install an instantaneous explosive equipment when it exploded prematurely, injuring one of their own members.

The injured Maoist, was identified as Guja Sodhi, was released by his companions, who ran away from the scene with his weapon, left behind in the forest.

Local villagers watching the incident alerted the police, which led to a rapid response to the Madded police team. With the help of villagers, the injured Maoist was given first aid and was rushed to the district hospital in Bijapur, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Police officials confirmed that Sodhi had been an active member of the Crazy Area Committee for the last six to seven years and was known for working with ACM Kanna Burchan. He allegedly carried a 12-bore weapon in the organization during his time.

This incident has once again highlighted internal cruelty and lack of compassion within Maoist ranks.

Officials said in a statement that the Maoist groups have a history of leaving the injured or sick members, often left to die in remote forest areas. The strict principle of the organization “either fight or die” highlights its inhuman treatment of its own cadres.

Senior Maoist leaders are allegedly entangled in internal disputes, while lower level operators face neglect and inconvenience.

Police officials insisted that the incident reflects the deteriorating morale and fragmented structure of Maoist groups in the area. He reiterated his appeal for the youth who have wandered into violent paths to surrender and re -organize the society.

The district police assured that anyone will be provided with full support and rehabilitation opportunities to anyone wishing to give up the violence.

The blast comes amidst acute Naxal operations in the Bastar Division, where more than 100 Maoists have recently surrendered.

The government has set a target to abolish the Maoist rebellion by March 2026, and such incidents strengthen the urgency of that mission.

Security forces have continued to monitor the situation in Bijapur and further increased patrolling in weak forest areas to prevent IED -related dangers.
