The army successfully completes the Mount Gorichen campaign in Arunachal

Itanagar, 3 October (IANS) In a remarkable performance of courage, endurance and teamwork, a team of Indian Army completed Mount Gorichen to Mount Gorichen in Arunachal Pradesh, showing the patience, discipline and courageous spirit of soldiers in the challenging area of ​​the Eastern Himalayas.

Defense spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amit Shukla said that on August 20, the campaign was flagged off by GOC, Spear Head Division LT Jean as Pentacker from Likbali Military Station.

He said that the advance party had gone first for reconnaissance, contact and coordination on 13 August.

The team then moved through the team, Missari, Tenga and Sege, which carries out acclimatization and preparation training systematic up to Senge (9,500 feet).

The phase ensured that the soldiers were physically air-conditioned and were prepared for further climbing, the spokesperson said, starting climbing from the Mago Road Head (12,200 ft) on 1 September, the campaign was upgraded through the campaign Merathang Base Camp, Chokers, Camp-I and Shikhar camps.

Breaking the hard weather, icy lines and thin air, the team continued to move upwards, installation of intermediate camps, fixing ropes and taking the load ghat, said.

On 19 September, the soldiers of Spear Corps successfully scored Mount Gorichen (21,286 ft/6,488 m), which symbolizes the national flag on the summit, a symbol of reluctant courage and pride.

The campaign then started its return journey through established camps and road heads and was marked by GOC Spear Corps, Lieutenant General Pendaharkar in Dimapur on Friday (3 October).
