Maha: Kang staged a state-wide protest demanding immediate assistance for flood-Hit farmers

Mumbai, October 3 (IANS) Congress on Friday held a statewide protests, demanding immediate assistance for farmers, working hard due to heavy rains and floods. It was also demanded that the state government should declare wet droughts, affected farmers should provide immediate assistance of Rs 50,000 per hectare, declare a blanket loan exemption, waive electricity bills, and allow additional compensation for the farm.

In a release, the Congress accused the BJP -led Mahayati government of indulging in rhetoric despite heavy losses due to excessive rains in Maharashtra. The irony is that farmers have not yet got relief in any way.

In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, demonstrations in front of the District Collector’s office were organized by the District and City Congress Committees.

MP Dr. Kalyan Kale, District President Kiran Patil Donagwkar, City President Sheikh Yusuf, former MLA Namdevrao Pawar and State Service Dal President Vilas Acade and several offices were present.

Under the leadership of Chandrapur MP Pratibha Dhankar, the Congress staged a chalk jam in Warora for the demands of farmers and common people. Farmers gathered for the agitation on Nagpur-Chandrapur highway.

He demanded a special package for soybean farmers of Chandrapur district, compensated Rs 1 lakh per hectare for cotton farmers and Rs 2.5 lakh per hectare for soybean farmers.

Chandrapur City (District) Congress Committee Chairman Ritesh Tiwari, Congress leaders, workers, farmers and local citizens, participated in large numbers.

Protests were also organized at the district and taluka levels in Akola, Amravati, Buldana, Nagpur Rural, Fake, Lata, Wardha, Ratnagiri and other parts of the state. The protesters raised slogans against the Kisan-Shatruta BJP Mahayuti government and presented a memorandum to the administration, said in the release.
