Patna, October 3 (IANS) JD-U Citting MLA Parabatta Assembly Constitution, Sanjeev Kumar, former Chief Minister of the nation, Tejashvi Yadav is ready to join the President Janata Dal (RJD) confirmed on Friday.
“Sanjeev Kumar, MLA sitting JD-U will join our party. We are going to Parabatta in Khageria district to join him. With his involvement, our party will become stronger in the region,” said Tejashvi.
The move is being seen significantly, as Tejashvi himself will travel to the performer for induction, underlining the importance of Kumar’s switch.
Earlier, while addressing supporters in the constituency of his home, Sanjeev Kumar had already indicated that he would leave JD-U to join RJ-D.
Kumar’s innings comes against the backdrop of his known rebel line within JD-U ranks.
During the floor test of Nitish Kumar government in February 2024, Sanjeev Kumar created a stir when he failed to reach the Bihar Legislative Assembly on time.
Reports suggested that he was in neighboring Jharkhand and was intercepted by police crossing the Bihar-Jharkhand border in Nawada district.
Although he eventually voted in favor of the Nitish Kumar government, his stance introduced him as a dissatisfied within the JD-U.
He was not alone. JD-U MLA from Roopoli in Purnia, Bima Bharti also displayed a rebel stand during the same floor test.
Unlike Kumar, he later resigned from JD-U, joined RJ-D, and elected the Lok Sabha election from Purnia on RJD ticket, but lost to independent candidate Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav.
Bharti also failed to hold the by -election of Ki Roopoli unsuccessfully.
The two leaders now expect to contest the RJD tickets from Sanjeev Kumar and Rupuli from Bima Bharti on RJD tickets – pointing to RJD’s strategy, which strengthens their base by including disinnant JD -U faces.
RJD is trying to include more leaders of opposition parties.
