Jaipur: In a major anti-drug operation, the Anti-Gangter Task Force (AGTF) in Jaipur seized Ganja at a price of Rs 5 crore, hidden in a secret room of a container truck, which was smuggled from Odisha to Rajasthan.
Two people, Subhash Gurjar and residents of Sikar in Rajasthan have been arrested in connection with the case.
According to ADG (Crime) Dinesh MN, AGTF received intelligence about a large consignment of ganja, which was taken to two notorious drug Lords from Rajavati region, Raju Pachalangi and Gokul to Rajasthan for delivery.
Working rapidly on the tip-off, AGTF, Jhunjhunu established a checkpoint in Udaipurwati area late on Thursday night, in coordination with the Jhunjhunu District Special Task Force (DST).
Under the supervision of Asp Sidhant Sharma, the team stopped a suspected closed container truck. During an initial discovery, no contradiction was found in plain vision. However, an intensive inspection revealed a hidden chamber behind the driver’s seat, which was found to be filled with 1,014 kg of hemp. This discovery underlined the detailed efforts of smugglers to avoid law enforcement.
Both the accused were immediately arrested, and the truck, along with the entire ganja consignment, was confiscated.
The market value of the seized cannabis is estimated to be around Rs 5 crore, which exposes the scale of smuggling operations.
The AGTF smuggling is continuing its investigation to identify other members of the network and detect the supply chain.
Officials emphasized that such operations demonstrate the vigilance of force in dealing with the smuggling of organized drugs in the state.
“This is an important success for AGTF and our partner agencies. The arrested persons will be prosecuted under the relevant sections of the drugs and psychotropic matter act,” said ADG Dinesh MN.
Officials said that seizure disrupts the operation of drug syndicates in Sheikhavati and acts as a warning to other smugglers trying to transport contraband in Rajasthan.
