Vijayadashami traces of victory of truth and righteousness: CM Sharma

Jaipur, October 2 (IANS) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the festival of Vijayadashami is a celebration of victory of truth over unrighteousness and righteousness.

He commented that the day reminds us that no matter how challenging the path of truth is, a bridge of solution is always formed.

Addressing the gathering at the 132nd National Dussehra fair in Kota on Thursday, in the presence of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, the Chief Minister said that the fair is not just a festival, but a living symbol of Rajasthan’s cultural heritage.

Sharma described the Kota Dussehra fair as an event famous across India for its grandeur and historical importance. It attracts tourists and devotees from the country and abroad, who serves as a confluence of religious beliefs, cultural programs, entertainment and folk traditions.

Sharma also emphasized that Lord Rama established the Ramrajya by eradicating evils like Ravana and reached the last person in the society, ensuring happiness and prosperity. He said that the state government is directed to bring positive changes in the lives of women, youth, farmers and poor, “as a human being, as Narayana and as a deity”.

He referred to progress in safety, women empowerment and poverty alleviation through initiatives like Pandit Desayal Upadhyay Poverty Open Gram Scheme for the purpose of upliftment of BPL families in 10,000 villages.

Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla while addressing the gathering said that Dussehra is a festival that celebrates the victory of truth over lies.

He remembered that Shri Ram defeated the arrogant Ravana by uniting people and building an army of righteousness. Birla urged citizens to follow the path of truth and morality to contribute to the development of the nation and the state.

He said that Dussehra fair of Kota is a historical symbol of tradition and culture, and is the echo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for Swadeshi, saying that it will make the country self -sufficient and developed. Birla also stated that the decrease in GST rates has directly benefited both indigenous producers and consumers.

He said that this year people are celebrating savings by purchasing a large number of handicrafts and local products at the fair. He greeted Vijayadashami and hoped that the event would bring new prosperity and happiness to the artisans and craftsmen.

On the occasion, representatives of the India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records presented a certificate to the Chief Minister to make the biggest effigy of Ravana of India, measuring 233 feet.

The pupil was traditionally set on fire by former Maharoa Ejiraj Singh, who represented Lord Lakshminarayan amidst brilliant fireworks that thrilled the audience. Earlier, on arriving at the Garh Palace of Kota, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla were welcomed by former Maharoo Iziraj Singh in Darikha.

The royal family, estate holders and a large number of citizens members greeted for the festival. School Education Minister Madan Dilawar, Minister of State for Energy (Independent Charge) Hiralal Nagar, MLA Sandeep Sharma, Kalpana Devi, Mayor Kota Dakshin Rajiv Agarwal, along with a huge crowd of several public representatives and people, attended the Dussehra Fair ceremony.
