60 -year -old Joy Alexander was shot outside San Francisco’s main library on Friday and was rushed to a hospital for treatment, but finally died of injuries on Tuesday, Ktvu report,
Alexander worked for urban alchemy, which has a mission Help the homeless population of the city And to provide jobs for those persons who have recently been released from jail.
Investigators identified the suspect as 42 -year -old Edmund Bowen, who allegedly expelled a shotgun in Alexander when men argued their alleged Drug use,
Jess Montanjano, a spokesman at Urban alchemy, told KTVU that Alexander was trying to help San Francisco’s roads safe when he was killed.
He said Alexander asked Bowen to stop drugs near the library as women and children were present outside the building.
“The suspect didn’t like it,” Montjano said. “He exchanged some words. My understanding is that he said,” F *** urban alchemy, “took out a gun from his bag and shot him in the torso area.”
Sheriff’s duties and police who were near the shooting scene responded to the incident and called for medical aid for Alexander.
Bowen was arrested and is still in police custody. Police said they were working to bring murder charges against Bowen before the end of the week.
Alexander’s family said that his life was the story of redemption. His brother, Marvin, told the broadcaster that Joy spent 23 years in jail and found the purpose of helping others after his release.
Marvin said, “Whatever he did in his past, he wanted to make it right.” “Whatever he was doing was the right thing. He loved his job, I know he loved his job.”
Joy was the father of two sons. His family wants him to remember not for his past, but for the person he became.
