Pathanamthitta, October 2 (IANS) The Sabarimala Gold Plate controversies on Thursday deepened with various quarters and strong statements of political leaders, as questions question accounting and alleged misuse of the temple’s gold.
Annikrrishnan Poti, who is known as a sponsor behind the raising widespread funds under the guise of activities related to Sabarimala, told the media that he would cooperate if he is called by vigilance officials.
Poti denied the wrongdoing, saying that he had done nothing wrong and any claim will be addressed in court.
However, the conclusions of Devaswom vigilance otherwise suggest.
According to his report, Poti allegedly collected adequate donations from devotees in various states, using the pretext of gold to the Sabarimala idol and the pretext of financing of Annadanam (community food).
The authorities allegedly assisted them in these activities, which many now question for their transparency.
The leader of the opposition VD Satheson on Thursday called the incidents “fraud and theft” in Sabarimala.
He accused both the former and current deity boards and governments of allegations of protecting those involved in misconduct.
Satheson highlighted that gold was originally removed after 20 years without the approval of the High Court under the 40 -year warranty and returned with a remarkable shortage of the board by its investigation.
He demanded accountability for ministers and presidents, who removed the role of the mediators including Poti in allegedly exploiting the confidence of devotees for financial gains and criticized the role of mediators.
In response, the Chairman of the Devaswom Board PS Prashant acknowledged procedural laps by the authorities in presenting the records in the High Court, although he emphasized that the board maintains all the wide accounts of gold stored in 18 lockers, including 467 kg through the Reserve Bank.
He reiterated that the board would demand a comprehensive investigation under the supervision of the High Court.
The controversy has intensified the call from the Congress -led UDF for CBI investigation to ensure fairness.
The High Court has already emphasized the need for a confidential, a complete investigation in all cases related to a confidential, SECTM SECORM, including verification of strong room inventions and checking of the Thiruvavanam Register.
As soon as the Sabarimala Gold Plate saga is revealed, the focus of the public is fixed on the accountability of temple authorities, intermediaries and political actors, which highlights the significant importance of transparency in the management of sacred property.
