Officials said on Thursday that Imphal, October 2 (IANS) attacked a convoy of Manipur police in Longja village in Jhoomh district of the state, damaging several vehicles, although no injuries.
A police officer in Imphal said that the windshields of three police vehicles were damaged in the late Wednesday attack when the police were doing an operation in the mountainous areas. However, there is no report of any injury on both sides.
One of the vehicles belonged to the Additional Superintendent of Police of the Jhoomar district who shares an uncontrolled limit with Myanmar.
Quoting Chandel’s report, the official said that a large number of people, most of whom belonging to the tribal community, stopped the convoy of vehicles from moving forward.
Cookie organizations alleged that the Manipur police is boldly biased to the Metei community.
In another development, the Manipur police arrested two main accused, who were involved in arson and crowd attack on security personnel from Yumnam Patlou Awang Leikai areas of Imphal Eastern district on Tuesday. The arrested persons are identified as 21 -year -old Konzengbam Nanao alias Arunjit, and 43 -year -old Heikrujam Kamba Miti, both as residents of the Imphal East.
In a separate operation, security forces have arrested a self-style corporal of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) terrorist organization. The terrorist was identified as 55 -year -old Khundongbam Nandbir Meteli Alias Chinglain from Herok Salaam Leirak area in Thubal district.
Meanwhile, security forces have recovered a large cash of weapons and ammunition in joint operations in Imphal West, Imphal East and Charachandpur districts.
The recovered weapons include 9 mm SMG carbine, five single-marble rifles, a double-market gun, five pistols, five pompi guns, two 12-bore shotguns, a modified .303 sniper rifle lens, and an M-16 automatic rifle with magazine.
Security forces also recovered a large cash of various types of ammunition and explosives from the three districts.
A Manipur Police official said that security forces continue to operate fringe, mixed-population and search operations and domination of the region in the districts.
According to the official, in both the hills and the valley region, a total of 114 nose/posts were established in various districts to prevent unpleasant and illegal movements of disqualified elements and suspected vehicles. He said that security forces have provided a large number of vehicles carrying essential commodities along the Imphal -Jiribam National Highway (NH -37).
Strict security measures are taken in all weak places, and a security convoy is provided in sensitive parts to ensure free and safe movement of vehicles.
The Manipur police also urged people not to believe in rumors and be cautious about false videos.
“Any police statement can be confirmed,” a police statement said any movement of baseless videos, audio clips, etc. can be confirmed. In addition, there are possibilities of broadcasting several fake positions on social media. It is cautious that it will upload such fake positions on social media and attract legal action with prevalence results. ,
The police appealed to the people to immediately return the weapons, ammunition and explosives to the police or the nearest security forces.
