Itanagar, 2 October (IANS) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday thanked the Assam Rifles and the locals for their quick and courageous response during a tragic landslide, killing two workers and three other TIRAPs were injured in the district.
Taking it to the social media platform X, CM Khandu wrote: “Heartfelt gratitude to the brave locals of Assam Rifles and Lapnan village, on Wednesday, he kools for his fast and courageous response during tragic landslides.”
“Your immediate action and teamwork saved life due to immense threat. Special thanks to soldiers who put their lives at risk to save people trapped under the debris, and for the villagers who proved to be invaluable. Our views are with families of two laborers who lost their lives.
The Chief Minister said, “Wish three rescued laborers under medical care also to wish for quick recovery. It can be reminded of all of us to be vigilant during continuous rainfall and landslide conditions,” the Chief Minister said.
An disaster management official said two workers were killed and three others were injured when a huge Madaslide killed his construction site in Lapna village in TIRAP district on Wednesday.
The official said that landslides were triggered by cutting the earth at a construction site, implicating five workers under the debris. Assam Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force and State Disaster Response Force arrived at the site and conducted a rescue operation with active help from the local people.
The official said that two laborers were identified as Pangkai Sankom (25) and Jong Pansa (18), both of them lost their lives after being buried under a huge mound of Earth from Kamahua Noksa village of Longing District, from Kamahua Noksa village of Longing District.
He said that three workers – Panfo Pansa, Fongoi Pansa and Chingangam Pans – were rescued alive and transferred to Dibrugar in neighboring Assam for immediate medical treatment.
A defense spokesperson said that a joint rescue operation by Assam Rifles, working under Spear Corps in coordination with CRPF, SDRF and local villagers, led the withdrawal of persons trapped under Nachuda in a joint rescue operation by Assam Rifles, who had immediately moved to the hospital after first aid.
He said that Spear Corps and Assam Rifle remain stable in all such situations with the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
