Bumper gift of Rs 3,705 crore to Karnataka for Vijayadashami: Pralhad Joshi

Bengaluru/New Delhi, 2 October (IANS) Union Minister Pralhad Joshi for central food, public distribution and civil supply said on Thursday that after introducing “the next generation GST reforms”, the central government has now increased a festive gift of additional tax deviation in all states on the occasion of Karnataka and Diwali.

Speaking to reporters in Delhi on Thursday, Union Minister Joshi said, “According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, the Union Finance Ministry has released a total of Rs 1,01,603 crore to all 28 state governments including Karnataka in additional tax deviation funds.”

With this major decision during the festive season of Dashera and Diwali, the Center has released an advance installment of tax deviation to support all states. Of this, Karnataka has been provided an additional share of Rs 3,705 crore, he said.

Joshi said that to accelerate capital expenditure of the states and provide financial assistance for development and welfare works, the Central Government on Wednesday night released this advance installment of a total of Rs 1,01,603 crore to all 28 states.

The additional part of the tax deviation will be released with the normal monthly allocation prescribed for October 10.

He advised the state governments to use these funds appropriately for development works.

Farmers in Karnataka have been badly affected due to excessive rains. From North Karnataka and Kalyan Karnataka to other parts of the state, farmers have suffered major crops.

In this situation, the Center has provided support price benefits for various crops. He urged the state government to ensure these benefits to reach the farmers properly.

A few days ago, the Center directed the purchase of special purchases on support prices for Tur, Urad, Soybean and Peanuts for the benefit of farmers in Karnataka.

Now, it has further increased the prices of support of various crops, including pulses in the upcoming Rabi season to give relief to farmers.

For the upcoming Rabi marketing season, the Center has declared the most minimum support price for wheat, kusum, barley, lentils (lentil), mustard and grams.

The Union Minister urged the state government to ensure that farmers in North Karnataka and Kalyan Karnataka get full benefit of this support.
