Padma Bhushan Awardi Pandit Chhanulal Mishra passed, PM Modi expressed grief

New Delhi, October 2 (IANS) Famous classical singer and Padma Bhushan Award winner Pandit Chhanulal Mishra died at the age of 89.

Veteran Mestro breathed his last in Mirzapur at 4.15 am on Thursday.

Pandit Chhanulal was unwell for a long time. He was admitted to Sir Sundar Lal Hospital of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi last month, which occurred last month after chest problems and a minor heart attack.

He was shifted to the ICU, where doctors diagnosed him in chest infection and anemia. A few days ago, he was discharged after showing signs of recovery.

His mortal remains will be brought from Mirzapur to Varanasi at 11 am on Thursday, which will be held to pay their final honors to the people, and the funerals will be held in Varanasi at 7 am.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the demise of the famous singer and recalled Indian culture and his contribution to him in his personal relationship.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the death of famous classical singer Pandit Chanulal Mishra.

“It is my good fortune that I always got his affection and blessings. In the year 2014, he was also my proponent from Varanasi seat. In this hour of sorrow, I express my deep condolences to my family and fans. Om Shanti!” He said.

Pandit Chhanulal Mishra shared a close bond with PM Modi, in which the 2014 Lok Sabha elections proposed his candidature from Varanasi.

He was honored with Padma Bhushan in 2010 by the then Apna government and later awarded the Yash Bharti Award by the then Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
