Mumbai, October 1 (IANS) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde said on Wednesday that Mahayuti stands by farmers during the crisis arising due to heavy rains and floods.
He criticized Uddhav Thackeray, the chief of Shiv Sena Udhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT), without taking his name, saying that instead of targeting the government, he should introspect.
“The former Chief Minister (Uddhav Thackeray) had announced a subsidy of Rs 50,000 to the farmers who regularly repays their loans. It was not implemented, but Mahayuta waived the loan of 2 million farmers. Therefore, they should first introspect,” he said.
He further said, “The Mahayuti government is standing by the farmers. We will work to wipe the tears and give courage to the farmers. Like the PM Kisan Sanman Bharat Yojana, the Mahayuti government has also launched a similar scheme to provide financial assistance to the farmers. When you help a lot, you help a lot.”
Reminding that in the last two and a half years, farmers have been provided with an amount of Rs 30,000 to 40,000 crore to Rs 40,000 crore through various schemes, Shinde reiterated that the government is committed to the farmers to stand with them and rebuild.
He said, “In the cabinet meeting, it has been decided to separate the prevailing terms and conditions of providing financial assistance to the farmers. A final decision in this regard will be taken in the next two days,” he said.
Shinde commented that if someone is guessing about helping farmers, it is wrong. He assured that the Mahayati government will give great relief to the farmers. Instructions have been given that any bank will be forced to recover.
Saying that the opposition is spreading misinformation that the Ladki sister scheme is going to be closed, Shinde said, “Ladki sister should ignore it. We will never let the scheme be closed. Those who oppose the scheme have no right to speak. Ladki sister knows who is opposing it. It is clear in the assembly elections.”
He also said that work is going on to distribute Rs 10,000, food grains, clothes and books to people affected by torrential rains and floods.
Keeping in mind the flood situation before the upcoming Diwali festival, instructions have been given to Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik to cancel the fare hike of state transport buses.
He clarified that a circular in this regard would be released soon, and it will provide relief to the common people.
Meanwhile, given the situation of heavy rains and floods in the state, students are being given a final chance for the online admission process for class 11. The decision was taken under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Rahul Narvekar, in the presence of the School Education Minister, Dadaji Bhusa.
